General:
Low, short-lived perennial herb from a taproot and branching stem-base, silvery with appressed to spreading, basally 2-forked hairs; stems 1-several or nearly lacking, tufted, decumbent, 1-6 (10) cm long.
Leaves:
Alternate, pinnately compound, 5-11 cm long; leaflets 5 to 15, oblong-elliptic, grey-hairy, 10-20 mm long; stipules lanceolate, 2-5 mm long, not joined.
Flowers:
Inflorescence a short, axillary raceme of 2 to 12 pea-like flowers, the raceme-stalks mostly very short (0.5-2 cm) but sometimes to 8 cm long; corollas yellowish-white, often purple-tinged, 7-10 mm long; calyces white-hairy, a little more than 1/2 the length of the corollas, the narrowly lanceolate teeth nearly as long as the tube.
Fruits:
Pods, oblong-egg-shaped, unstalked, ascending or spreading, 1-2.5 cm long, inflated, densely hairy, rather leathery, somewhat flattened, short-beaked, 1-chambered.
